Admission Fees for Dakshana Foundation Students who have secured a Seat in IIT/NIT/IIIT through IIT JEE.
Eligibility

This is a drive to raise funds for Admission fee for Dakshana Scholars, who have secured a seat in IIT/IIIT/NITs  but don't have enough money for paying admission fees.
     These are JNV students, who studied free in Dakshana's Campuses for IIT JEE/NEET and have an annual family income of less than Rs 1 lakh.
 


17 of these students have received support for seat Acceptance fee (ranging from 7K to 30K).  The major contribution to corpus came from me, Umesh Prasad. The idea was that once seat acceptance fee hurdle is crossed, they would be able to get  Education loan from Banks.  However, Banks don't give them education loan till they have actually taken admission in College. So we need to support them for admission fees also.

        I have run short  of money and appeal to the community to support these students. It is an investment that we as a society need to make in next generation, so that dreams can be fulfilled. So that no matter where a student comes from, no matter what their family income is and no matter how educated or well informed they or their parents are, they can aspire to a greater future through sheer hard work and strive for excellence.

       These students have done it all. They cracked the entrance of JNV, tough entrance of Dakshana foundation, toughest exam for Engineering in all over the world, IIT JEE. They have tackled whatever  challenges have thrown in front of them through sheer hard work and merit and believe. Now there is a small paywall in terms of admission fees. Let's support them so that we can have a just  India. An India where Opportunity for Education is available to all who will strive for it.

Vidya daan Mahan Daan. If we contribute charity of knowledge or Education, it is the greatest charity. In an age, where 85% of in IIT JEE seats go to Kota Factory or Big coaching students. In an age where even lower middle have put their faith in budget private schools , and even maids in Bangalore are spending upwards of 50K per year towards their daughter's education. Dakshana and JNV have germinated few seeds, who have cracked IIT JEE and have got very good seats. EkPahal is helping these students with admission fees. We have already paid seat acceptance for 17 students from 6 states (8 IITs, 6 NITs, 2 GFTI, contribution varying from from 7K to 30K costing a total of 3.5 lakhs) We then paid partial admissions for 7 students for NITs/IITs/IIITs ( costing 4K to 30K ) Most of the Donation has come from a single person, Umesh Prasad, B.Tech IIT Kanpur MME, 2006 passout who got similar help in counselling fee in 2001 (from his Physics teacher) and admission fee (from Lions Club Ranchi) 20 years back in 2001. We request the the Junta to please contribute to this Noble cause and help a family in poverty to send their kid to IITs/IIITs/NITs. The families can be seen here in pics.

I am Umesh Prasad. A techie, learner and an educationist. A strong habit of self study, quest for knowledge, persistence took me from a rural student in a govt school of Jharkhand to IIT Kanpur. I did my B.Tech from IIT Kanpur in 2006 in MME and worked in multiple early stage startups. 2nd Employee @ Verse Innovation (now DailyHunt), Naukri.com, Amazon, 5 years in Flipkart (Search and DataPlatform team). In 2018, I left full time job to work pro bono for Sikshana Foundation. I am a first generation learner. Mother never went to school, father was a brilliant student who dropped out in class 9th to support his family. I am eldest in the generation and 1st to cross the Dahleej of 10th ( I was district topper of Koderma in 1997). I arranged my own finances post 10th. (teaching in school at age of 15, tuitions, scholarships, interest free loans, some money from relatives/parents). In last few years, I have angle invested in EdTech startups, funded NGO programs (Prof HC Verma's two programs, Agastya's lab on bike), given scholarships to 50 plus students. And all of these became possible because of the education that I got from IIT. An education that I almost missed out, because my family didn't have money to pay counselling fee (of Rs 5000) or admission fee (of Rs 18000) in 2001.
